Our Broadband Technology

Connexus Business Broadband is more than one single product. It’s a suite of over five different technologies available to build the optimal solution for your business.

The technologies include Fibre Ethernet, ADSL, ADSL2+, Multi-DSL, SHDSL, BDSL and Leased Lines. Technologies can be mixed and matched to best meet individual branch office requirements for speed and flexibility. Multi-site solutions often incorporate different technologies.

We know our business customers don’t have time to wait on the phone. Our telephone support service is responsive, friendly and skilled. The basic service, covering all products and services we offer, includes:

  • Fast replacement of faulty modems/routers purchased from Connexus
  • Australia-wide 1300 number for access from anywhere in Australia

All Connexus staff are Australian citizens or permanent residents located within Australia. No aspect of Connexus service is outsourced overseas.

Optional Service Level Agreement (SLA)

Connexus offers the option of a comprehensive Service Level Agreement. This can be customised to your business needs. The agreement includes agreed targets for response and restoration times, in the event of service interruptions.

24/7 Emergency Support

Customers with an SLA have access to our ‘around the clock’ Emergency Support Team. This team diagnoses critical faults at any time of the day or night.

Some competitors provide a basic after hours ‘fault reporting’ service. Our engineers act quickly to detect and fix any faults that might occur. They will re-route your e-mail and change DNS records when necessary.

Australia-wide Access

Wherever your business is, we make sure you get the best internet connection possible. Our premium Business ADSL and SDSL services are available from over 1500 telephone exchanges across Australia.

Fast Replacement Service

If we have supplied your modem or router, we back it up. In the unlikely event of equipment failure, we’ll courier a replacement to you immediately. This will minimise your downtime and keep things simple for you.

Unlimited Network Users

As your business expands, the number of users needing broadband access will too. Unlike some competitors, we don’t charge extra when new users come on board, so you can grow your business and not your overheads.

Static IP Addresses

A static or fixed IP address is important for business users. It allows your business to:

  • Run a mail, web or VPN server
  • Use VoIP (Voice over IP) server applications
  • Operate in a secure environment

IP addresses are unique. This makes them the safest way to access resources such as secure websites and virtual private networks (VPNs). If necessary, we supply your business with multiple IP addresses.

Monitor Your Usage

You can easily check usage and accounts information. You can also:

  • Monitor daily usage of all your Connexus services
  • Download invoices in PDF format
  • Make online payments

Controlling the Costs

We keep the billing simple and transparent. Our options allow you to monitor and control the costs of your internet service and we can offer you a range of services to monitor your internet usage at a user-level within your organisation and block unwanted content such as YouTube videos and file sharing (see Connexus WebControl for more information).

Multiple IP Addresses

If your business operates several servers, you may need multiple IP addresses. We can easily assign your business an IP subnet once you have sent us an approved network plan. Connexus can also route Class C subnets that have been assigned to you from AUNIC or APNIC.

PPP-Based Session Control

Our ADSL and ADSL2+ services use PPP, a protocol used for logging-on to the Connexus ADSL service. It’s the industry-standard method of authenticating usernames and passwords. This means hundreds of different modems and routers are compatible with Connexus ADSL and ADSL2+.

Aggregated Data Allowances

Business customers who have three or more Business Broadband connections are able to aggregate each connection’s included internet traffic into a single pool.

For example, your business might have three sites with different usage requirements. To reduce the risk of your exceeded usage allowances, we can allocate you one data allowance (e.g. 65 GB) to be shared among all three sites.

In this example, you would not incur any additional charges unless that total data pool of 65 GB is exceeded.

Connexus offers a number of alternate business connection options for special applications where DSL is not available or suitable.

All these services are backed by our high-performance, high-reliability Cisco-powered network with more than 1 Gbps of backbone capacity.

ISDN
  • Historical product largely being replaced by DSL, but still useful in some locations where DSL is not available due to distance from exchange or line limitations
  • 64 kbps per channel (in both directions)
  • Relative high cost compared to ADSL
  • Available from almost any location in Australia
  • Requires ISDN router/card at customer premises
3G Wireless Internet
  • Fast, cost-effective solution for fixed and mobile wireless access
  • Available in most areas
  • Connection speeds up to 3.6 Mbps
Business Dialup
  • Classic internet connection using 56 K modem
  • Local access number from anywhere within Australia
  • Choice of per-hour or monthly charge
  • Group access, which allows multiple users to share the same internet plan and be measured individually
