DLink DSL-200 USB ADSL Modem - Bridge Installation for Windows XP

  1. Double click the “My Computer” icon on your desktop or from your “Start” menu.
    Within the My Computer window, double click your CD-ROM drive and locate the Setup.exe file.


  2. Double click the “Setup.exe” icon.


  3. Welcome to the D-Link DSL-200 ADSL Modem Setup.
  4. Click the “Next>” button.


  5. Select your ISP.
  6. Choose “Other Service Provider”.
  7. Click the “Next>” button.


  8. Select driver type.
  9. Choose “LAN Driver”.
  10. Click the “Next>” button.


  11. Enter your communication settings.
    VPI=8, VCI=35
    Encapsulation = RFC 1483 IPoATM Bridged LLC Encapsulation
    Modulation = G.DMT


  12. Setup has enough information to start copying the driver files.
    Click the "Next>" button.


  13. You will be prompted with several windows stating that the software has not passed Windows Logo testing.
    Click the “Continue Anyway” button on all occurrences.


  14. The DSL Installer has finished copying the files to your computer.
    Click the "Finish" button.


  15. Please plug the DSL-200 modem into your computer.

    You will now be prompted to install software for the following:
    1. D-Link DSL200 USB ADSL Loader
    2. D-Link DSL200 USB ADSL Modem(WAN)

  16. Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard.
    This wizard will install the software for the D-Link DSL200 USB ADSL Loader.
    Choose “Install the software automatically (Recommended).
    Click the “Next>” button.

    Please wait while the wizard installs the software..


  17. You will be prompted that the software has not passed Windows Logo testing.
    Click the “Continue Anyway” button.


  18. You have successfully installed the software for the D-link DSL-200 USB ADSL Loader.
    Click the “Finish” button.


  19. Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard.
    This wizard will install the software for the D-Link DSL200 USB ADSL Modem(WAN).
    Choose “Install the software automatically (Recommended).
    Click the “Next>” button.
  20. Please wait while the wizard installs the softwareÂ…


  21. You will be prompted that the software has not passed Windows Logo testing.
    Click the “Continue Anyway” button.


  22. You have successfully installed the software for the D-link DSL-200 USB ADSL Modem(WAN).
    Click the “Finish” button.
  23. Congratulations, you have successfully installed all components of the D-Link DSL-200 USB ADSL Modem.
  24. After the necessary software has been installed, an Ethernet adapter corresponding to the D-Link DSL-200 USB ADSL modem will be placed in your Network Connections. This will usually be called Local Area Connection 2.

Configure the TCP/IP Settings

  1. Right mouse click the “My Network Places” icon on the desktop.
    Select “Properties”.


  2. Right mouse click “Local Area Connection 2”.
  3. Select “Properties”.


  4. Select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”.
  5. Click the “Properties” button.



  6. Select “Use the following IP address”.
  7. Enter in your given IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway and DNS servers.
  8. Click the “OK” button.
    This will return you to the Local Area Connections 2 Properties.
  9. Click the “Close” button.
  10. Congratulations, you have successfully configured the TCP/IP settings.

Set your Internet Options to “Never dial a connection”

  1. Open up Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on the “Tools” link at the top.
  3. From the Tools drop down menu, click on “Internet Options”.
    (This will open up the Internet Options window.)
  4. Click on the “Connections” tab.
  5. If not greyed out, select “Never dial a connection”.
  6. Click the “Apply” button then the “OK” button.
