NetComm NB1300 ADSL Modem - Advanced Router Mode

In Router Mode the NB1300 will act as an ADSL modem and router. By connecting the NB1300 to either a hub or switch it will allow you to share the Internet connection with multiple computers on your local area network.

By default, the NB1300 has an internal IP address of 192.168.1.1. Either set your computer to obtain an IP address automatically whereby an IP address will be assigned to your computer via the DHCP capabilities of the NB1300 or manually assign an IP address to your computer within the 192.168.1.x subnet range with a default gateway of 192.168.1.1.

  1. Access the NB1300’s One Page Configuration.

    Open up your web browser and go to 192.168.1.1

    Username: admin
    Password: password
    Click OK.


  2. Configure the NB1300 with your user details.

    In the One Page Configuration, enter the following:

    WAN Type: 1483 Bridge IP LLC
    VPI: 8
    VCI: 35
    Static IP Address: (refer to your ADSL Activation Advice)
    Subnet Mask: (refer to your ADSL Activation Advice)
    Default Gateway:  (refer to your ADSL Activation Advice)
    Bridge mode: Disabled
    Click Submit.


  3. Show Advanced Settings

    Click on “show advance settings” to expand the Main Menu.
  4. Put the NB1300 into G.DMT mode.

    G.DMT is the handshake protocol used by the Carrier.

    Click on “ADSL Configuration” from the Main Menu.
    Select “G.dmt” as the Handshake Protocol.
    Click Submit.


  5. Turn on Network Address Translation (NAT).

    Click on “NAT” from the Main Menu.
    Select “Dynamic NAPT” as the NAT configuration.
    Click Submit.


  6. Configure DNS Proxy.

    Click on “DNS” from the Main Menu.
    Select “Use User Configured DNS Servers Only” as the DNS Proxy Selection.
    Preferred DNS Server: 203.12.22.10
    Alternate DNS Server: 203.12.22.20
    Click Submit.


  7. Save changes.

    Click “Save Setting and Reboot” from the Main Menu.
    Your settings have been saved and the NB1300 will reboot and return you to the One Page Configuration shortly.

Congratulations you have successfully put the NB1300 into Router Mode.
