NetComm NB1300 USB ADSL Modem - Bridge Installation for Windows XP

The NetComm NB1300 USB ADSL modem provided by Connexus comes preconfigured in Bridge mode. It’s then a matter of plugging the NB1300 into a spare USB port on your computer, installing the USB drivers and configuring the TCP/IP settings.

  1. Insert the NetComm NB1300 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Setup the NB1300 hardware:
    1. Insert one end of the the AC adapter into the NB1300 socket that reads “POWER”
      and the other end to the power outlet.
    2. Insert one end of the phone cable into the NB1300 socket that reads “LINE” and the other end to the phone jack in the wall.
    3. Insert one end of the USB cable into the NB1300 socket that reads “USB” and the other end to an available USB port on your computer.
    4. Press the ON/OFF switch at the rear to turn the NB1300 on.


  3. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” has found the USB NET CARD and will install the necessary software.
  4. Select “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).
  5. Click the “Next>” button.


  6. Please choose your search and installation options.
  7. Select “Search for the best driver in these locations”.
  8. Tick “Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM…)”.
  9. Untick “Include this location in the search”.
  10. Click the “Next>” button.
  11. Windows XP will now attempt to find a suitable driver for the USB NET CARD.
    Please wait while the wizard searches…


  12. Please select the best match for your hardware from the list below.
  13. Windows XP has found the best driver for the NetComm USB Network Interface.
  14. Select “NetComm USB Network Interface 1.1.6.2 NetComm g:\usb driver\cxttru2k.inf”.
  15. Click the “Next>” button.


  16. A warning message will appear stating that this software has not passed the Windows Logo testing.
  17. Click the “Continue Anyway” button.
  18. Please wait while the wizard installs the software…


  19. Another warning message will appear stating that this software has not passed the Windows Logo testing.
  20. Click the “Continue Anyway” button.


  21. You have completed the Installation of the NetComm USB Network Interface.
  22. Click the “Finish” button.
  23. Windows XP will now install the NetComm NB1300 USB Network Adapater.


  24. The “Found New Hardware Wizard” has found the NetComm NB1300 USB Network Adapter and will install the necessary software.
  25. Select “Install from a list of specific location (Advanced).
  26. Click the “Next>” button.


  27. Please choose your search and installation options.
  28. Select “Search for the best driver in these locations”.
  29. Tick “Search removable media (floppy, CD-ROM…)”.
  30. Untick “Include this location in the search”.
  31. Click the “Next>” button.
  32. Please wait while the wizard installs the software…


  33. A warning message will appear stating that this software has not passed the Windows Logo testing.
  34. Click the “Continue Anyway” button.
  35. Please wait while the wizard continues installing the software…


  36. You have completed the Installation of the NetComm NB1300 USB Network Adapter.
  37. Click the “Finish” button.


  38. Your new hardware is now installed and ready to use.
  39. After the necessary software has been installed, an Ethernet adapter corresponding to the NetComm NB1300 USB modem will be placed in your Network Connections. This will usually be called Local Area Connection 2.

Configuring the TCP/IP Settings

  1. Right mouse click the “My Network Places” icon on your desktop.
  2. Select “Properties”.


  3. Right mouse click “Local Area Connection 2”.
  4. Select “Properties”.


  5. Select “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”.
  6. Click the “Properties” button.


  7. Select “Use the following IP address”.
  8. Enter in your Connexus IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway and DNS servers.
    Click the “OK” button.
  9. This will return you to the Local Area Connections 2 Properties window.
  10. Click the “Close” button.
  11. Congratulations, you have successfully configured the TCP/IP settings.

Set your Internet Options to “Never dial a connection”

  1. Open up Internet Explorer.
  2. Click on the “Tools” link at the top.
  3. From the Tools drop down menu, click on “Internet Options”.
    (This will open up the Internet Options window.)
  4. Click on the “Connections” tab.
  5. If not greyed out, select “Never dial a connection”.
  6. Click the “Apply” button then the “OK” button.
