NetComm NB1300 USB ADSL Modem - PPPoE Installation for Windows 98

The NetComm NB1300 USB ADSL modem provided by Connexus comes preconfigured with your user details already. It's then a matter of plugging the NB1300 into a spare USB port on your computer and installing the USB drivers.

  1. Insert the NetComm NB1300 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  2. Setup the NB1300 hardware:
    • Insert one end of the AC adapter into the NB1300 socket that reads "POWER"
      and the other end to the power outlet.
    • Insert one end of the phone cable into the NB1300 socket that reads "LINE" and the other end to the phone jack in the wall.
    • Insert one end of the USB cable into the NB1300 socket that reads "USB" and the other end to an available USB port on your computer.
    • Press the ON/OFF switch at the rear to turn the NB1300 on.


  3. The New Hardware Wizard has found the USB NET CARD.
  4. Click the "Next>" button.


  5. Tick "Specify a location" and type in there "d:\usb driver\" where d: is the drive of your CD-ROM.
  6. Click the "Next>" button.


  7. Windows is now ready to install the best driver for this device.
  8. Click the "Next>" button.


  9. Windows has finished installing the software for the NetComm USB Network Interface.
  10. Click the "Finish" button.


  11. While Windows is finishing the installation, it may require some additional files from the Windows 98 CD.
  12. Type in the location of your Windows 98 CD.
  13. Click the "OK" button.
  14.   Next > Set your Internet Options to "Never dial a connection"
  15. Set your Internet Options to "Never dial a connection"


  16. Open up Internet Explorer.
  17. Click on the "Tools" link at the top.
  18. From the Tools drop down menu, click on "Internet Options".
    (This will open up the Internet Options window.)
  19. Click on the "Connections" tab.
  20. If not greyed out, select "Never dial a connection".
  21. Click the "Apply" button then the "OK" button.
